Feeling Tired After Winter? A Spring Blood Check Can Help You Reset

As the days get longer, many of us expect to feel more energetic.

Yet it’s incredibly common to come out of winter still feeling tired, flat, or not quite yourself. Dark mornings, low sunlight, seasonal bugs, poor sleep, stress, and a richer winter diet can all take their toll – and sometimes your body simply hasn’t caught up with the calendar.

If your energy hasn’t returned by spring, a simple blood screening can be a sensible next step.

We regularly see patients whose tiredness is linked to anaemia or low iron, which can leave you feeling breathless, light‑headed, or exhausted. Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency may affect energy, concentration, and mood, while vitamin D levels often drop over winter due to reduced sunlight exposure.

Your thyroid also plays a crucial role in how energetic you feel. An under‑ or over‑active thyroid can quietly cause fatigue, weight changes, low mood, or brain fog. Hormones matter too: testosterone in men and female hormones such as oestrogen and progesterone can influence energy, strength, sleep, and emotional wellbeing – particularly during times of stress, perimenopause, or busy life stages.

Using comprehensive Randox laboratory testing, we can check all of these markers in one clear, evidence‑based screen. Just as importantly, we don’t stop at the numbers. We take the time to explain your results in context, discuss what’s normal for you, and – where needed – create a personalised plan to help you feel better.

Spring is a natural time for a reset. If winter has left you running on empty, a spring blood check can be a powerful first step back towards feeling well.
