How is coronavirus spread?

Because it’s a new illness, we do not know exactly how coronavirus spreads from person to person, but similar viruses spread by cough droplets.

What is coronavirus?

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause respiratory infections. In particular, COVID-19 is caused by a new form of coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) first reported in December 2019.

Treatment for coronavirus

There is no specific treatment for coronavirus. Treatment aims to relieve the symptoms.

The Abbott SARS-CoV-2 IgG and Roche Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV-2 assays detect IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, the Roche assay is a total antibody assay and will additionally detect IgM antibodies, reporting both IgG and IgM as a total antibody result.

When do I need to take the test if it is for travel?

You will need to check with your airline or travel company how many hours before travel you need the test, and if this is before departure or arrival. 

You can then contact the Clinic and the reception team will help you make an appointment. We have a 48 hour cancellation policy on all Covid 19 PCR appointments. NB. You must bring your passport with you to the appointment.

The clinic can not advise when is best for you to take the test, you must have this information ready when making the booking. Our test results do not come with a QR code.

Do I need to bring anything to the appointment?

You must come wearing a mask, no earlier than 5 minutes before your appointment time and by yourself, and also please bring your passport.

What happens if my test is positive?

If a positive result is received, you will be contacted by the Clinic and given further instructions. You will also receive an email with this information on. Your positive test results will be passed on to Public Health England in accordance with the government guidelines.
